  • It is Planned to Establish a Security Zone of 565 m Around Russia’s Largest Offshore Drilling Platform

Security zones are planned to be installed around the Orlan and Berkut platforms.

The Russian Ministry of Transport has prepared an order to establish security zones around the Orlan and Berkut offshore stationary platforms. As follows from the text of the draft document published on the Federal portal for posting draft regulations, the security zones will be 565 m in radius.

Let us remind you that the Berkut offshore drilling rig is the largest offshore oil and gas drilling platform in Russia, intended for the development of the Arkutun-Dagi field, the third field of the Sakhalin-1 project. The platform is located 25 km from the northern part of Sakhalin Island, on the shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk. It was put into operation on June 27, 2014.

The Orlan ice-resistant production platform is one of the largest in the world and also operates as part of the Sakhalin-1 project.
