Kashagan: On September 11th, 2013 The First Barrels Of Oil Were Produced From Some 4,200 Metres Below The North Caspian Sea.
After years of construction the gigantic Kashagan field is now entering production mode. At peak time more than 42,000 people were involved in realising the world’s biggest and one of the most complex industrial projects. Once Kashagan Phase 1 has reached the production levels it was designed for, each minute some 40,000 litres of oil will pass through the 500 kilometres of pipelines offshore and onshore. The Kashagan project, a unique engineering masterpiece, was created by the Consortium of seven major oil companies, in which Agip KCO the agent responsible for Phase 1 played a major role.
