  • Kazakhstan Intends to Increase Gas Production by 2.3%

    The Minister of Energy of the Republic Almasadam Satkaliev said that the main increase in gas production is envisaged at the expense of large fields – Karachaganak, Tengiz and Kashagan.

    The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan plans that gas production in the republic in 2024 will increase by 2.3%, to 60.5 billion cubic meters. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of the Republic Almasadam Satkaliev at a government meeting.

    “In recent years, gas production in the country has been growing steadily. The production plan for 2024 is 60.5 billion cubic meters, or 2.3% of the 2023 volume. Gas production in the first half of 2024 amounted to 30 billion cubic meters, which is 50% of the plan for 2024,” Satkaliev said.

    According to him, the main increase in gas production is envisaged at the expense of large fields – Karachaganak, Tengiz and Kashagan.

    The minister noted that work is underway to fully utilize the country’s gas transit potential.

    “In October 2023, the transit of Russian gas to the Republic of Uzbekistan was launched. In 2023, 1.28 billion cubic meters were transported, this year we plan to increase this figure to 3.8 billion cubic meters with a further increase to 11 billion cubic meters. m per year,” said Satkaliev.

    He emphasized that the transit of Turkmen and Uzbek gas to China shows steady growth. In 2024, Kazakhstan plans to increase such transit to 37.1 billion cubic meters. m, which is 1.5 billion cubic meters. m more compared to 2023. In addition, the issue of increasing the transit of Russian gas towards Kyrgyzstan is under discussion.
