  • KazMunayGas And Eni Will Invest $300 Million in Exploration of The Kazakh Sector of The Caspian Sea

    Kazakhstan is intensifying geological exploration of the Caspian Sea, which has not been carried out for the last few years, and has taken the Italian Eni as a partner.

    KazMunayGas and the Italian Eni plan to explore the Kazakh Caspian shelf for hydrocarbons jointly, reports 24KZ TV channel with reference to the head of KazMunayGas Magzum Mirzagaliev. The companies planned the start of drilling for the third quarter of 2024, investments in geological exploration will amount to $300 million.

    According to Mirzagaliyev, exploration for hydrocarbons on the Kazakh Caspian shelf has not been carried out over the past few years. Previously, KazMunayGas and Eni agreed to study the Abay shelf area in the Kazakh sector, 1 exploration well should be drilled here and 3D seismic should be carried out.

    Eni has been operating in Kazakhstan for more than 30 years, participates in the development of the Karachaganak field and the Kashagan project, and, together with KazMunayGas, has the right to exploration and production in the Isatay shelf area.
