  • LUKOIL Has Created the Largest-Scale Model of a Field in the Russian Federation

The digital twin of the Vatyeganskoye field in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug covered the entire chain – from the reservoir to the central oil collection and treatment point.

LUKOIL-Western Siberia has introduced an innovative model for managing hydrocarbon production based on integrated operations. The “smart field” project was implemented at the Vatyegan group of fields in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. FederalPress reports this.

The digital model of the Vatyegan field is the largest model of an oil field in Russia. It includes digital twins of more than 3,000 wells, 1,600 km of pipelines, and 12 development sites. The digital twin covers the entire production chain – from the reservoir to the entrance to the central oil collection and treatment point.

Thanks to this, the LUKOIL subsidiary has increased the efficiency and quality of decisions made, which are formed by specialists in a unified information base.

Digital models help determine real production potential, plan, monitor and evaluate hydrocarbon production, and optimize oil and gas production.

In total, LUKOIL-Western Siberia has created 18 digital field models. In the next four years, their number should increase to 27.

Help from the Devon Information Agency:

LUKOIL-Western Siberia accounts for about 40% of LUKOIL’s production. The company operates in the Tyumen region, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug within 122 license areas.

LUKOIL-Western Siberia LLC includes seven territorial production enterprises: Langepasneftegaz, Urayneftegaz, Kogalymneftegaz, Povkhneftegaz, Pokachevneftegaz, Yamalneftegaz, Beloyarskneftegaz.

The Vatyeganskoye oil field is one of the largest in Russia. Its initial recoverable reserves exceed 338 million tons of oil. Development of the facility began in 1983. In terms of its geological structure, the field is complex and multi-layered.

In 2019, Devon News Agency reported that LUKOIL had implemented a comprehensive integrated production model at the Yuzhno-Yagunskoye oil and gas field (KhMAO). At that time it was the largest in the industry. The model allows you to monitor 12 development objects and more than 1,700 wells.
