Mangystau Oil & Gas Continues to Grow
The 5th Mangystau Oil & Gas Exhibition and 2nd OilTech Mangystau Conference were held on 2nd to 4th November 2010 at the Grand Nur Plaza in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The events continues to grow in size and importance, attracting participants from around the world and specially from within the oil rich Western Kazakhstan and Caspian region.
The exhibition was opened by the Akim of the Mangystau Oblast, Mr Krymbek Kusherbayev and UK Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr David Moran. The exhibition and conference’s list of influential participants reflected the growing status of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas sector and the rapid development of Aktau as a hub for the industry in the region.
The exhibition grew in size by 40% compared to 2009 and it also attracted 7% more visitors. The conference covered a range of technical, operational and commercial topics with presentations from high profile speakers and technical specialists.
Event supporters included the Ministry of Oil & Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazMunayGas, the Mangystau Region Administration and the Akimat of Aktau City. Sponsors included ConocoPhillips, Lloyds Register, Shell and Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies.
Graeme Orr, Sales Manager of Veolia highlighted the business development opportunities the event creates. “We have supported it from the beginning, and it will remain a key part of our strategy to develop our business in Kazakhstan.”
The events are organised by ITECA, part of the ITE Group, and their Marketing Director who attended the event in Aktau, Richard Wightman, commented. “This year’s Mangystau Conference and Exhibition were very successful in bringing the industry together, providing a showcase for the industry’s latest achievements and technologies, and a forum for sharing experiences and conducting business. This region is developing rapidly, driven by the oil and gas sector and these events provide an exceptional platform for exploring commercial opportunities and for understanding the specific issues that affect the industry in the region”.
The next edition of Mangystau Oil & Gas and OilTech Mangystau will take place in Aktau from 1st to 3rd November 2011.
