  • Mass Events Banned in the Moscow Region

The ban on holding mass events for a period of a month, the Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov, explained by the increase in the incidence of coronavirus infection

The Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov, ordered to prohibit the holding of mass events in the Moscow Region for the next month – until July 15. In a message published on the Governor’s Telegram channel, it is said that such a decision was made in connection with “the increase in the incidence of coronavirus infection.”

Over the past day, 1135 COVID-19 infections were detected in the Moscow region , above this mark the indicator last rose on January 25 (1163).

“We also decided to introduce a ban on all public events in the Moscow region until July 15th. That is, there will be no mass events in the Moscow Region for a month, ” Vorobyov said at an operational meeting with the Moscow Region government and district heads.

“Our main task is to support health care and stop the growth of morbidity in order to save lives,” added the governor.

What kind of events will be banned and whether it will affect proms, the governor did not say. Earlier it was reported that graduation in schools in the Moscow region will be held in full-time format on June 25-26. The Ministry of Education of the Moscow Region told TASS that city-wide graduations are being canceled, but the events will be held in person at the schools themselves.

“The date is chosen by the school itself: June 25 or 26. Schools will hold events either separately for each class, or in the fresh air, ”the press service quoted the Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government Irina Kaklyugina as saying.

A number of concerts are scheduled for the second half of June and early July in the Crocus City Hall located in the Moscow Region, including Arias (June 17-18) and Manizha (July 8). From 23 to 27 June, the Crocus City Hall will host the ZHARA festival, which was moved here from Luzhniki because of the “unstable epidemiological situation in Moscow”. There is no information on the cancellation or postponement of these events on the Crocus City Hall website yet.

Earlier, the Invasion music festival was postponed to 2022 . “The dynamics of the growth of morbidity is such that the Rospotrebnadzor in the Moscow region ruled that it was impossible to carry out the” Invasion “in July-August 2021,” the organizers explained the postponement.

On June 15, Vorobyov especially noted that the authorities are alarmed by the fact that there are more young people among COVID-19 patients.

“Now more and more young people are ill, and they are seriously ill: 60% of the sick and 33% of those hospitalized are those who are not yet 50 years old,” said Vorobyov.

On June 13, the Governor of the Moscow Region signed a decree to tighten measures to prevent the spread of infection. The document, in particular, obliges organizations not to allow citizens who do not comply with the mask regime into buildings and premises. Employers are prohibited from admitting employees who are not wearing masks or respirators into the workplace.

The Main Directorate of Regional Security of the Moscow Region intends to strengthen checks on compliance with the rules requiring the wearing of masks in shops, pharmacies and transport. In particular, from June 15 in municipalities close to Moscow, checks will be organized at train stations, passenger platforms and bus stops in the morning and evening rush hours. Violators face fines of up to 30 thousand rubles.
