Mining University and TATNEFT Will Create a Scientific Center in Almetyevsk Under the Auspices of UNESCO
Today, at the St. Petersburg Mining University, agreements were signed on the creation of a Regional Competence Center in the field of mineral resources in the Republic of Tatarstan on the basis of the International Competence Center in Mining Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO.
The documents were signed by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Rector of the St. Petersburg Mining University Vladimir Litvinenko and General Director of PJSC TATNEFT Nail Maganov.
The regional center will be created on the basis of the Almetyevsk State Oil Institute, which is the flagship university of TATNEFT and one of the leaders in the oil and gas sector in Russia, as well as has a high scientific potential and the necessary infrastructure to conduct research in this area.
Within the framework of the agreements, the Competence Center operating at the St. Petersburg Mining University under the auspices of UNESCO will assist in attracting representatives of the international academic community to the process of training personnel in mining and technical specialties in the Republic of Tatarstan and in obtaining international professional certification by industry specialists. The parties also plan to participate in joint research on priority areas for the development of the oil and gas sector.
Similar regional centers, created on the basis of the International Competence Center, are already operating abroad: in the UK, Germany, Austria, Finland, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Belarus. In Russia, regional centers under the auspices of UNESCO exist in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, as well as on the basis of the PhosAgro and Sibur-holding companies.
“The emergence of such a center in Tatarstan will allow the republic to be even more progressive, to use the scientific and educational potential that is in the St. Petersburg Mining University , – stressed the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam MINNIKHANOV. ” And Tatarstan will be your reliable partner.”
“I am convinced that the creation of such a regional center in Tatarstan will contribute to the development of a personnel training system for the oil industry throughout our country, ” said Nail MAGANOV, General Director of TATNEFT. “ For its part, the Company will provide maximum support in the implementation of this strategically important project.”
