  • More than 60 Russian Organizations from Various Industries Have Been Involved in the Implementation of the Sakhalin-3 Project

Starting in 2026, underwater fountain fittings will be introduced at the field.

More than 60 Russian organizations from various industries were involved in the implementation of the Sakhalin3 project. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Anton Alikhanov in an interview with RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF2024).

The Sakhalin3 project, implemented at the YuzhnoKirinskoye field in the Sea of Okhotsk, is aimed at gas production through the introduction of a domestic underwater mining complex. An important step in the implementation of the project was the conclusion of a long-term agreement between Gazprom and AlmazAntey Concern for the supply of equipment for the underwater mining system. Moreover, in order to implement the Sakhalin3 project, more than 60 leading Russian organizations from various industries were involved. By the end of 2024, it is planned to introduce a system of underwater column heads of domestic production at the field, and starting from 2026, an underwater fountain valve, the minister said.

According to him, in response to the sanctions restrictions, the Russian industry deployed comprehensive measures to actively develop its own technologies and equipment for the development of offshore fields, which gave a visible result.

The Sakhalin3 project includes three subsurface areas: Kirinsky, Ayashsky and VostochnoOdoptinsky. The Kirinskoye, YuzhnoKirinskoye, YuzhnoLunskoye and Mynginsky deposits are located within the Kirinskoye site. The Kirinskoye gas condensate field was put into development in 2013, and its commercial operation began in the fourth quarter of 2014. The design capacity of the Kirinsky gas processing plant is 5.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Gas from the fields of the Sakhalin3 project is the main resource base for the Sakhalin KhabarovskVladivostok main gas pipeline.

The Kirinskoye field is currently the only field on the Russian shelf where production is carried out using an underwater mining complex (MPC), without the use of platforms and other surface structures.
