More than 600 Oil Production Wells Have Been Suspended in Kazakhstan
The work of 634 oil production wells was suspended in Kazakhstan due to a difficult flood situation, the total loss of oil production amounted to 16 thousand tons, the press service of the country’s Ministry of Energy reports.
“As a result of the flood situation in the country, in a number of oil producing enterprises in the Aktobe and Atyrau regions, the work of 634 wells was suspended, and the total loss of oil production amounted to 16 thousand tons. As of today, the work of 141 wells has been restored, production is still suspended at 493 wells, of which: in In the Aktobe region, 489 wells were suspended (JSC “SNPS – Aktobemunaigas” 440 wells, JSC “KMK Munai” 25 wells, LLP “Firm Ada Oil” 24 wells), and in the Atyrau region 4 wells were suspended (JSC “Embamunaigas” 3 wells, TOO “ 5A Oil “1 well). The total loss of oil production amounted to 16 thousand tons,” the report says.
It is noted that work is underway at the company’s facilities to pump out water with pumps, as well as, in particular, sealing wells and building flood protection fortifications.
