Naftogaz of Ukraine Launched New Wells For Gas Production
The state gas production company Ukrgazdobycha, part of the Naftogaz of Ukraine group, launched two more wells, which increased production by more than 200 thousand cubic meters of gas per day, the company’s press service reported on Tuesday.
Ukrgasvydobuvannya commissioned two high-yield wells. Both were drilled at the same field: a sidetrack was drilled on one of them, the second was put into operation after drilling,” says a message published on the Naftogaz of Ukraine website.
The company clarified that the first well was drilled back in 1975, but over time it became an inactive well due to technical complications. The restored well provides additional over 100 thousand cubic meters of blue fuel for Ukraine. The second evaluation and production well also produces more than 100 thousand cubic meters of gas per day. This year, the company says, the field will return to annual production of more than 1 billion cubic meters for the first time in more than 10 years.
In March, the country’s Ministry of Energy announced that Ukraine had increased gas production to over 50.5 million cubic meters per day. The head of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Alexey Chernyshov, said at the end of December last year that gas production in the east of Ukraine decreased in 2022, but at the same time production rates in the west of the country increased.
