  • New Oil Deposits Discovered in Libya

Tatneft, together with the National Oil Corporation of Libya (NOC), discovered new oil deposits in the Ghadamis basin with a flow rate of 1,870 barrels per day. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the NOC message.

“The Libyan branch of PJSC” TATNEFT “as the second party (operator) and the National Oil Corporation of Libya, which are partners under an exploration and production sharing agreement … announce the discovery of new oil deposits in block 82 block 4 in the Ghadamis basin as a result of testing an exploration well F1-82/04 at a new field,” NOC reports.

It is noted that the exploration well has been drilled to a total depth of 8,500 feet (approximately 2.6 kilometers) and is located approximately 330 kilometers south of Tripoli.
The achieved flow rate is 1870 barrels per day from sandstones of the Devonian and Ordovician periods.

The new deposits are the third discovery in Block 4 block 82, the NOC emphasizes. Tatneft drilled the well as part of an agreement with NOC, with a Libyan company holding an 89.5% stake in the project and a Russian company holding a 10.5%.
