  • Nigeria Wants to Attract Russian Companies to Oil and Gas Projects

Nigeria should involve Russian companies in its projects for the exploration and development of oil and gas fields, Director General of the Women‘s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining and Agriculture of Nigeria Oritseveyinmi Eribo told RIA Novosti.

In June 2023, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources of Nigeria and the country’s official representative to OPEC, Gabriel Aduda, stated at the RussiaAfrica summit that his country was interested in obtaining Russian technologies in the oil and gas sector, adding that Nigeria also seeks to attract Russian companies to the country’s oil and gas projects.

I think it would only make sense to involve Russia Russia is a worldclass power in the field of oil production, like Nigeria in Africa, so it makes sense for the world powers to unite. Therefore, I think that if these negotiations are already underway, it makes sense to ensure the participation of Russian companies in them, Eribo said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in response to a question about the plans of the Nigerian authorities to involve Russian energy and mining companies in the exploration and development of oil and gas fields.

In this regard, the agency‘s interlocutor noted that Russia has the necessary technologies, knowledge, and experience in the field of oil production, which makes Russia an important player in this industry.

You have the technology, you have the experience, you have the knowhow, you have the influence, you have the money to move this conversation forwardIn my opinion, Russian companies should participate in these conversations, Eribo added.

The WEF takes place on September 3-6 on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. RIA Novosti is the general information partner of the WEF2024.
