  • Norilskgazprom Will Drill Five New Wells at the Pelyatkinskoye Gas Condensate Field

The company’s investment in the project will amount to about 10 billion rubles.

The Norilskgazprom company (part of Norilsk Nickel) has started drilling five new wells at the Pelyatkinskoye gas condensate field (GCF) for the first time in 10 years; they are planned to be put into operation in 2026, according to a Norilsk Nickel statement.

“The large-scale project was included in the development strategy of Norilsk Nickel’s energy complex. It will increase the reliability of the energy system and will ensure that Norilsk and the company’s enterprises are provided with the necessary volume of gas,” the statement says. The company’s investment in the project will amount to about 10 billion rubles.

Norilsk Nickel noted that the project is being implemented at the Pelyatkinskoye gas condensate field, which is located 170 km northwest of Dudinka in the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets region of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. It accounts for 80% of the natural gas produced in Taimyr.

“There are currently 41 production wells in operation. As part of the project, five new wells will be drilled with a total capacity of about 2 million cubic meters of gas per day. They are planned to be put into operation in 2026,” the company added.

A drilling contractor, Gazprom Shelfproekt, was hired to implement the project. All necessary equipment and special equipment have already been delivered by the contractor to the site.

Norilsk Nickel noted that the Pelyatkinskoye gas condensate field has a complex geological structure, so each well will have an individual design. Of the five wells, three will be directional and two will be directional with a horizontal end. The first directional well is currently being drilled, the design depth of which is 2,721 m.

By the end of 2024, it is planned to complete drilling of the first three wells, the remaining two – in the first half of 2025, the company added. In the same year, a set of works will be carried out to technologically connect wells to the existing infrastructure of the Pelyatkinskoye field for further preparation and transportation of natural gas: piping wells, constructing overpasses and service platforms, laying pipelines from the well to the point of insertion into the existing reservoir, notes Norilsk Nickel.
