Northern Asset of Belorusneft Discovered New Deposits of Oil and Natural Gas
The northern subsidiary of Belorusneft discovered new deposits of oil and natural gas. Andrei Bokhan, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Yangpur Oil Company (a subsidiary of Belorusneft in Western Siberia), told journalists about this, BelTA has learned.
The company has been developing the Metelnoye oil and gas condensate field for about six years. Known deposits for natural reasons began to lose potential, however, research continued and became more intense, which led to the result – the discovery of a new natural gas deposit.
According to Alexander Polyakov, director of the oil company Yangpur, from well No. 829s2 of the Metelny field, an inflow of natural gas of 260 thousand cubic meters per day and condensate of 3 cubic meters per day was received.
“According to preliminary estimates, the recoverable natural gas reserves of the new discovered deposit are up to 700 million cubic meters. This result is quite significant for the company, as it will increase the gas reserves of the entire field by 15%,” he explained.
The serious scale of exploration in Western Siberia led to another discovery. We are talking about a new hydrocarbon field in the Izvestinsky subsoil area, where an exploration well was drilled. A significant resource base has been discovered.
“The instruments of geophysicists reached much more ancient structures. Prospecting well No. 201 at the Rozhdestvenskaya structure has already shown that the recoverable oil resources here are 198 thousand tons, natural gas – 485 million cubic meters, condensate – 43 thousand tons. According to the results of geophysical research, in the Lower Cretaceous and Jurassic deposits, rocks saturated with hydrocarbons were identified. Deep-lying deposits of the pre-Jurassic basement (Paleozoic complex) were noted as promising,” the company said. There are good prospects for development, the discovery of new deposits and an increase in the resource base for both oil and gas.
In recent years, new license areas have been attached, which are being seriously developed by the geological team of Yangpur. Good forecasts for the Ust-Purpeysky subsoil area, which was acquired in 2021. Thus, when testing a reservoir in a new well No. 561 of the Gubkinskoye field, an initial inflow of oil of 30 tons per day and gas – 150 thousand cubic meters per day was obtained.
In general, the development of Yangpur is quite dynamic, Andrey Bokhan emphasized. For 10 years as part of Belorusneft, the number of employees of the company has increased by more than three times, and gas production has also increased by an order of magnitude.
“Meticulous work has been carried out to acquire and attach new licensed areas to Yangpur, a large program of further research has been outlined. We see prospects for increasing oil and natural gas production. A serious construction program has been planned at this enterprise, which is associated with the allocation of related products, a wide fractions of light hydrocarbons from associated petroleum gas, which expands the range of additional products and improves the economy of the enterprise,” summed up the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the oil company.
