  • Novak: Russia is Considering Accelerating the Launch of the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye Gas Condensate Field on the Sakhalin Shelf

The Vice Prime Minister noted that the priority goal is to develop gas supply to the Komsomolsk industrial hub and Vladivostok.

Russia is considering accelerating the launch of the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye gas condensate field (GCF) on the Sakhalin shelf, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak wrote in an article for the Energy Policy magazine.

“The priority plans include the development of gas supply to the Komsomolsk industrial hub and the city of Vladivostok, the acceleration of the commissioning of the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye gas condensate field on the shelf of Sakhalin Island,” he said.

In 2022, Gazprom announced that work on the Sakhalin shelf continues at the planned pace, despite the refusal of Western companies to cooperate.

The implementation of the Sakhalin-3 project involves the development of the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye gas field and the Ayashskoye oil field. It is planned that from 2025 the project will start gas production, which will amount to 5 billion cubic meters. m per year, and from 2030 the investor will start producing 3 million tons of oil per year. The annual project will produce 10 billion cubic meters. m of gas and 10 million tons of oil.

The Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field was discovered in 2010; its C1+C2 reserves are 814.5 billion cubic meters. m of gas, 130 million tons of gas condensate and 3.8 million tons of oil. The planned design capacity of the field is 21 billion cubic meters. m of gas per year.
