Oil and Gas Horizons will be held from the 24th to the 26th of November 2014 at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas in Moscow and is being organized by Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter.
This year will be the sixth annual edition of Oil and Gas Horizons. Take out for all those years Oil and Gas Horizons Conference has become one of the most important scientific conferences and key student networking events.
The aim and objectives:
- creating a basis for young experts to provide and exchange ideas, experience and technologies;
- strengthening scientific collaboration and business communication between Russian and foreign experts;
- defining of probable tendencies of scientific and technical development in fundamental oil and gas trends.
The official language of the Conference is English.
A lot has changed positively from the First through the Fifth OGH Conference which was held last year. The Fifth Oil and Gas Horizons included 121 students from 6 countries (Russia, Poland, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Azerbaijan), 19 universities and 14 chapters.
The Sixth Oil and Gas Horizons consist of Student Paper Session, Student Poster Session.
The Conference offers TEN categories:
- Geosciences: geology, geophysics, petrophysics.
- Drilling and Completion: drilling technologies, drilling fluids, tools and well completion.
- Oil and Gas Field Development: reservoir engineering, production engineering, oilfield equipment.
- Transportation and Storage: transportation and storage of hydrocarbons and petroleum products.
- Oil and Gas Chemistry and Ecology: oil refining, gas processing, chemical technology in oil and gas industry, ecological aspects of oil and gas industry.
- Construction Engineering and Technical Maintenance: oil and gas equipment, measurements and instrumentation, mechanical engineering issues in oil and gas industry.
- Automation and Computer Science: automation, control systems, power supply, electronics, electrical engineering issues in oil and gas industry.
- Petroleum Economics and Management: economics and management in oil and gas industry, economical politics, political and legal aspects of oil and gas business.
- Alternative Energy Sources: up-to-date technological solutions in energy industry, use of alternative energy sources, problem of reducing consumption of hydrocarbons.
- Offshore and Arctic Petroleum Engineering
And also TWO Special Sections:
- PhD Papers Contest: PhD students paper contest on various themes of oil and gas industry.
- Young Professionals Paper Contest: professionals paper contest on various themes of oil and gas industry.
The Conference represents a solid basis for students and industry professionals to share their knowledge and experience. We consider it as a possibility for students to present their views on the current challenges and prospects of the domestic and global petroleum industry, issues regarding professional training and internationalization of education as imperative for sustainable development as well as any other issues which they would consider as important.
