  • Oil Production in the Largest Oil and Gas Regions of the US Will Decrease in August

Oil production in the main oil and gas producing regions of the United States, in which a significant part of the production is shale oil, will fall in August compared to the current month by 18 thousand barrels per day, or 0.2%, to 9.397 million barrels, the Energy Information Administration predicts ( EIA) Ministry of Energy of the country.

Including production in the Bakken basin will increase by 4,000 barrels per day, to 1.222 million barrels, Niobrara – by 3,000, to 665,000. Appalachia and Haynesville are expected to maintain production at levels of 147,000 and 36,000 barrels per day, respectively.

A decrease in production is expected at three fields: at Permian – by 11 thousand, to 5.764 million barrels per day, at Eagle Ford – by 12 thousand, to 1.124 million barrels, at Anadarko – by 2 thousand, to 439 thousand barrels.

The EIA also expects in August an overall decline in gas production at all these fields by 100 million cubic feet, to 97.972 billion cubic feet per day.

According to EIA data, the total number of wells in progress in the US area under consideration in June decreased by 24 compared to May, to 4,804.

Drilled but uncompleted wells (DUC) are wells that have been drilled but not yet completed for production. A large DUC reserve could allow US producers to quickly and massively ramp up production as oil prices rise, regardless of the pace of drilling activity.
