Oil Service Company SLB Has No Plans To Leave Russia Yet
The head of the company, Olivier Le Peche, noted that the corporation’s team works autonomously in the country; SLB’s priority remains the protection of its assets and employees.
The world’s largest American oil service corporation SLB (formerly known as Schlumberger) does not yet intend to leave Russia, despite pressure from the West. This was stated by the head of the company Olivier Le Peche in an interview with the Financial Times (FT).
According to him, the company has “no plans” to sell its assets in Russia, despite pressure from the West. He explained that the corresponding decision has not yet been made. “When we make a decision, we will make it public if necessary,” Le Pech said. He noted that at the moment the corporation’s team is working autonomously in the country and SLB’s priority remains protecting its assets and employees.
SLB (Schlumberger) was founded in 1926. Its main areas of activity include the development and implementation of technologies for determining the characteristics of formations, drilling, production and processing of oil and gas. The corporation conducts commercial activities in more than 120 countries around the world, in which it employs about 100 thousand people. On July 14, 2023, the company announced a complete cessation of supplies of equipment and technology to Russia due to the conflict in Ukraine.
