  • Oman Auctions Several Offshore Oil and Gas Blocks by 2025

Auctions for new units in Oman, which started in 2023, will now be held annually.

Oman plans to auction several oil and gas blocks on the Arabian Sea shelf by the end of the year, said the head of the country’s Ministry of Energy, Salim al-Awfi.

According to him, tenders for new plots are planned to be held every year.

In an effort to increase oil and gas production, Muscat launched a round of exploration licensing for three gas blocks in March 2023. Currently, about 50 concession blocks are being developed in the country.

Oman, which is part of the OPEC+ alliance, produced 760 thousand b/d in March, compared to 770 thousand b/d in February.

The severe storm that hit Dubai and Oman last week is not expected to affect production in the sultanate, and Minister Aufi noted that he “did not see any major disruptions.”
