Oman Showed Interest in Russian Companies Entering Its Energy Market
Oman would like to see Russian companies in its energy market, Vladimir Dergachev, executive director of the Russian-Omani Business Council at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“During the last meeting in the spring of this year at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Oman, the new minister announced Oman’s desire to see Russian companies in the sultanate’s market. This statement was followed by a proposal to ensure the participation of our companies in tenders for raffled sites for oil exploration and mining” , – he said.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, the Russian side was given the appropriate maps with a breakdown of the played subsoil plots into blocks with delineated boundaries.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry immediately sent this data to Zarubezhneft and Rosgeologia, and the Omanis are waiting for their response, Dergachev added.
He believes that Oman can become a window for the transit of not only oil, but also Russian goods in general to the Middle East and the countries of Southeast Asia. The geographical location of the sultanate allows us to consider it as a center for cross-border transportation and servicing traffic flows in the North-South direction.
