  • Orenburg Oilmen Completed 3D Seismic Exploration In Two Subsoil Areas

On the eve of Geologist’s Day, which is celebrated on the first Sunday in April, geologists of the Orenburgneft company (a subsidiary of Rosneft) successfully completed 3D seismic exploration in the Leningradsky and Tverdilovsky subsoil areas in the Orenburg region. The research area was more than 140 square meters.

This is yet another confirmation that geologists at the region’s largest oil-producing enterprise use only modern technologies in their work, which help them find promising areas and underground storehouses. Over the past five years alone, they have discovered and put into development 30 new fields.

Seismic exploration using the 3D method is carried out to obtain a three-dimensional (volumetric) image of the studied subsoil area.

“The work carried out will make it possible to prepare new objects for prospecting and appraisal drilling, clarify the structure of the previously discovered Tverdilovskoye and Ryabinovoye deposits, as well as assess the prospects of difficult-to-recover Domanik deposits within the areas,” commented Ivan Kurashov, head of the company’s seismic exploration department.

The full cycle of seismic surveys was carried out by employees of internal service companies. The work program was carried out in strict accordance with the requirements of the environmental legislation of the Russian Federation and in compliance with all environmental and industrial safety standards. The company pays special attention to these issues.

The company’s plans for 2024 are to continue studying the licensed areas using seismic exploration. Today the company is implementing a geological exploration program at mature fields using the most effective technologies. The program includes seismic exploration, drilling, sampling of cores and formation fluids from prospecting, appraisal and exploration wells, and geophysical surveys using high-tech equipment in wells.

Let us remember that Geologist Day was established in 1966. Representatives of this profession have made a great contribution to the country’s economy. Thanks to the work of geologists in the Orenburg region, the largest deposits were discovered: Pokrovskoye, Bobrovskoye, Sorochinsko-Nikolskoye, Olkhovskoye, Vakhitovskoye.
