  • Orenburgneft: Cuts Water Consumption from Natural Sources

The Orenburgneft company, which is part of the oil and gas production complex of NK Rosneft, has reduced water intake from natural sources at the Lebyazhinskoye field by 28%. Thanks to the measures taken over 2.5 years to increase the level of reused water in the production process, the volume of consumption of “fresh” * water has decreased by more than 3 million m3.

Responsible attitude to the environment is an integral part of corporate culture and one of the key principles of Rosneft’s activities. The company is consistently improving its corporate water resources management processes by applying modern technologies for the treatment and protection of water bodies.

By the end of 2021, Orenburgneft plans to implement a project for the construction of high-pressure water pipelines at the fields of the Volostnovsko-Zemlyansky cluster and reduce the consumption of fresh water for injection into the reservoir by 63% (more than 1.3 thousand m3 per day) by transferring injection wells for injection water.

In addition, the implementation of the project to change the source of flooding at the Pron’kinskoye field will reduce the level of consumption of surface water from the river. Samara by more than 4 thousand m3 per day.
