Orenburgneft has Reduced the Cost of Diesel Generation at oil Production Facilities by 13 times
Orenburgneft, the production company of Rosneft, has reduced the use of diesel generation * at its own oil production facilities. Since 2018, the number of diesel power plants has decreased from 33 to 2 units, and the amount of annual annual costs for this period has decreased 13 times – to 20 million rubles.
Improving the efficiency of the company’s production assets is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. The company carries out systematic work aimed at rational use of resources and reduction of energy consumption, optimization of electrical loads and thermal processes. The energy management system operating at Orenburgneft has received confirmation of compliance with the international standard ISO50001: 2018, as well as the requirements of GOST R ISO 50001: 2012.
A significant economic effect was achieved thanks to the construction of power grid infrastructure at oil production facilities. For three years, Orenburgneft specialists have built about 300 km of 6 kV transmission lines and more than 200 transformer substations. The use of temporary power supply schemes for wells in hard-to-reach areas and effective planning also contributed to a reduction in the use of diesel generation at the company’s oil production facilities.
* The high cost of electricity generated by diesel power plants (DES) (5-6 times more expensive than the electric grid) makes its use economically inexpedient. As part of the Rosneft-2022 strategy, the Company is systematically reducing the use of diesel power plants in favor of switching to an efficient and environmentally friendly power supply.
