Orenburgneft Replenished Hydrocarbon Reserves By 168% In 2023
The Orenburgneft company, which is part of the oil-producing asset of Rosneft, replenished reserves by 168% in 2023. The company’s employees discovered one new oil field and 19 new deposits within existing fields. The total increase in recoverable reserves at the end of the year amounted to more than 16 million tons of oil and 699 million m3 of gas.
Increasing the efficiency of reserve replenishment is one of the key elements of Rosneft’s development strategy. The company plans to replenish at least 100% of produced hydrocarbons.
New discoveries were the result of successful geological exploration and effective geological and technical activities as part of the program to search for missed deposits at Zemlyanskoye, Smolyanoy, Baklanovskoye, Yuzhno-Kominternovskoye and a number of other developed fields. The largest discoveries were within the Toksky and Vorobyovsky subsoil areas; the total recoverable reserves of new deposits here amounted to 2 million 954 thousand tons of oil.
Every year the company works to expand the mineral resource base, reassess reserves and clarify the geological structure of deposits. In this regard, specialists are helped by domestic technologies and specialized software systems developed at the Company’s scientific institutes.
As part of the geological exploration program, Orenburgneft continues to increase volumes; by 2024, it is planned to complete the construction of 8 prospecting and appraisal wells. The most significant for the production program is the start of prospecting and appraisal drilling within the Ekaterinovsky and Chernoyarovsky subsoil areas, the potential of which is associated with highly promising Upper Devonian reef complexes.
