  • Orenburgneft: Saved 1bn Rub Through Innovative Technologies

The economic effect from the introduction of innovative technologies at the production facilities of Orenburgneft JSC (a subsidiary of Rosneft Oil Company) in 2020 exceeded 1 billion rubles.

Comprehensive development of scientific and technological potential is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2022 Strategy. As part of this work, the company pays special attention to innovation and the use of advanced digital approaches, identifying technological leadership as a key factor in competitiveness in the oil market.

In 2020, Orenburgneft specialists implemented an innovative hydraulic fracturing (hydraulic fracturing) project, which allows complete cleaning of the wellbore from proppant without any technological residue.

Another innovation developed by the company’s specialists involves changing the design of the well during drilling. The technology allows to increase the commercial drilling speed, as well as reduce the time and cost of well construction.

In addition, Orenburgneft specialists have significantly increased the efficiency of well workovers. For example, the use of triple packer technology to eliminate casing leaks has resulted in shorter workover times and improved crew productivity.

In total, in 2020, 13 new technologies were tested at Orenburgneft facilities, 7 of which were recommended for implementation in production.
