  • Orenburgneft Saved More than 300 Million Rubles by Improving Energy Efficiency

JSC Orenburgneft, the production asset of Rosneft, is systematically implementing a comprehensive program to improve energy efficiency and energy conservation. In 2020, the reduction in energy costs due to the implementation of the Energy Saving Program amounted to 317 million rubles.

Improving the efficiency of the company’s production assets is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. The company carries out systematic work aimed at rational use of energy resources and reduction of energy consumption, optimization of electrical loads and thermal processes. The energy management system operating in Orenburgneft fully complies with the international standard ISO 50001: 2018, as well as the requirements of GOST R ISO 50001: 2012.

In 2020, within the framework of the Energy Saving Program, Orenburgneft implemented 440 measures, which allowed the enterprise to save 92 million kWh. The maximum economic effect was obtained through the implementation of a set of measures to improve the energy efficiency of the ground infrastructure and the operation of the pumping station, as well as the reengineering of the production complex. For example, the commissioning of a new water pipeline from the block-cluster pumping station “Vakhitovskaya” to the water distribution point made it possible to reduce the discharge pressure in the system and save more than 3.5 million rubles (1 million kWh)

The enterprise conducts pilot tests of new equipment used in mechanized mining on an ongoing basis. In 2020, about 300 energy saving measures were carried out. More than 29 units of submersible downhole equipment with higher efficiency have been installed. At marginal wells, work is underway to improve the efficiency of their work, depending on the conditions and operating parameters. The implemented measures for artificial lift allowed to save more than 129 million rubles (37 million kWh).

Another direction of the Energy Saving Program is the modernization of lighting systems at production facilities of Orenburgneft. In 2020, 1,175 luminaires were replaced with energy-saving LED bulbs. The savings from the event amounted to about 1 million rubles (290 thousand kWh).
