POGC Begins Drilling 35 New Wells in South Pars
Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has begun a project to drill 35 new wells in the South Pars gas field to increase and maintain gas production from the combined giant field.
According to POGC, the operation was officially launched on Tuesday at a ceremony attended by the head of POGC as the main contractor and the head of Petro Iran as a subcontractor of the project, Shana reported.
The execution operation for drilling the mentioned wells was started at the position of the SPD12B platform of the giant gas field.
The contract for the said project was signed in November 2023 between the National Iranian Oil Company and POGC.
POGC has also signed several drilling contracts with local companies in four project packages.
The subcontractors for the drilling project are drilling companies Pasargad, Petropars, PetroIran and Shomal Drilling companies.
The duration of the project contract will be three years, and the investment required to implement this project is estimated at $1.2 billion.
Megaprojects will not only help develop the gas industry and the country’s economy, but will also create jobs and promote domestic potential.
According to NIOC head Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr, similar contracts will be awarded to qualified Iranian companies in the near future.
