PPDR “Polyarnaya Zvezda” Completed Drilling Season 2021

The Polar Star semi-submersible floating drilling rig (SSDR) has arrived at the winter base .

After the completion of the construction of two wells on the shelf of Sakhalin Island, from  October 9 to October 12, 2021, the SSDR was towed by the Saturn and Pomor transport and tugs to the Zyryanskaya Bay.

Upon arrival, work was carried out to fill the anchor lines and ballasting the SSDR.

The crew of the Polar Star completed the assigned tasks with high quality and ahead of schedule.

REFERENCE:

SSDR “Polyarnaya Zvezda” refers to self-propelled offshore floating drilling rigs of the catamaran type with two pontoons and six stabilizing columns supporting the topside.

The platform is capable of conducting exploration and production drilling of gas and oil wells up to 7,500 m deep at sea depths from 70 to 500 m in the presence of broken ice up to 70 cm thick.

Main technical characteristics:

– height to the top of the tower – 128 m, height to the upper deck 45.15 m;

– pontoon length 119 m, width 17 m, height 10 m.
