  • RDCR 2019: 1 Week to Go!

In a first for us here at TMG Worldwide and the organising committee of the RDCR Well Engineering Forum – we are as of today forced to close registration for new delegates. The response and requests for delegate registration has been a surprise even to us, and with 480 delegates currently registered – we are now only taking delegate requests for the waiting list. Should you still want to attend, please apply HERE for further information.

    Sponsorship Update:
The organizers are pleased to confirm Baker Hughes as Silver Sponsors to this year’s RDCR. Baker Hughes will present a complex solution for drilling and completion of the Achimov formation. Baker Hughes helps companies get the most value out of their reservoirs with physical and digital solutions that will lower CAPEX and OPEX requirements over the life of the asset.

    Supervision Hall
John Mitchell will be a special guest speaker in the Supervisor Hall. John gained industry wide fame after authoring his bestseller in practical leadership – Accident-Free Drilling – which has been translated into many languages, including Russian. In the 2000’s, John ran many training refresher courses for specialists in Russian oil and gas companies. He knows first-hand the problems of our industry and it is great to have him at RDCR 2019.

Recently, John has been engaged in field training supervisors and has accumulated all of his practical experience in the book ‘Leadership from the Rig’, recently published by Pegasus Vertex.

In his report on ‘Successful Supervision While Drilling’, John will start with the most important question ‘What is the role of a supervisor?’ Is this the ‘exploiter of slaves’ or the ‘helpless observer?’ What is the correct definition of the role supervisor? According to John, the work of the supervisor consists of the following components: 30% leadership, 30% of management, 30% of technical expertise and 10% Business. Supervisor all rolled into one. A Supervisor must combine several roles: leader, communicator, coordinator, problem solver, boss, decision maker, coach, mentor, teacher, and finally the profitable businessman.

The next topic the report will cover will be the general state of supervising in the world.

At the end of the report, John will give an expert assessment of the problems facing the Russian supervising sector. In particular, the transition to a separate service requires serious investment as well as the training of highly qualified supervisors. The customer still uses the contract as a quality control weapon against the contractors, which is contrary to the principle of ‘win-win’ and collaborative team working environment.
