  • Reservoir Group today announces it has created the world’s largest coring provider, through the consolidation of all its coring activities under one brand, Corpro.

The move, which will see nearly half of all core cutting activities within the global energy industry carried out under Corpro, follows the full deployment of the organisation’s game-changing technology, Quick Capture, which has successfully completed a series of commercial jobs across a broad range of applications and geologies.

Corpro was the original member company of Reservoir but since the group was created five years ago, three North America coring businesses have come onboard – Diamond Oil Well Drilling Co., Coring Services Inc., and Quest Coring Services – each providing geographical strongholds and complimentary coring technologies.

Corpro’s strength rests in its innovative personnel and technologies, which supply advanced coring solutions including the award-winning iCore. Its most recent innovation, Quick Capture, is the first pressure core assembly able to bring both the core and all of the associated reservoir fluids to surface in a safe and controllable manner.

After just four months in service, Quick Capture is enjoying success in the US and Canada with significant customer interest and a growing list of successful operations, delivering a much-enhanced picture of the reservoir. International deployment of this game-changing technology is scheduled for the third quarter of 2012.

Reservoir Group has named Doug Kinsella as managing director of the new Corpro brand. The founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Quest, he was instrumental in the design of both Quick Core and Quick Capture, two of Corpro’s fastest-growing techbnologies.  Doug has 20 years of experience and prior to Quest held key positions within the coring industry.

He said: “It is an honour to lead such a strong coring group. My focus will be the continued expansion of technologies and services across all geographies. Corpro is established all over the world and we need to use this breadth to inform the market of the exciting solutions we offer in terms of formation evaluation.

“I am certain of the positive impact Quick Capture will bring. From the initial commercial runs, we witnessed that operators have been able to accurately determine their reservoir saturations in both conventional and unconventional reservoirs. The industry has for a long time demanded a safe, reliable and effective core system to achieve these results and we are proud to have now delivered the same.”

Reservoir Group CEO Pascal Bartette said: “The time is right to position our leading activity under a sole banner and we believe this will enable the most efficient deployment of advanced technologies, equipment and personnel. We will offer our customers the broadest range of specialist coring solutions under the Corpro brand.

“As for Doug’s appointment, the selection was natural as he has built a very strong reputation in the coring industry and possesses an excellent track record for managing international businesses. His achievements in Quest are remarkable. To Doug’s and his Edmonton colleagues’ credit, they are behind the creation of both the Quick Core and Quick Capture technologies.”

Corpro employs approximately 400 staff, operates from over 40 bases and extends its reach to all continents. It remains a leading brand within Reservoir Group while the group continues the expansion of its other specialist, reservoir related services.
