  • RN-Purneftegaz Celebrates 35 Years Since its Foundation

LLC RN-Purneftegaz (part of the oil and gas production complex of NK Rosneft) celebrates its 35th anniversary. The enterprise was established on July 14, 1986 to speed up the development of a group of new oil and gas fields in Yamal – Tarasovsky, Barsukovsky, Novopurpeysky.

During its operation, the enterprise has produced more than 270 million tons of oil and over 120 billion cubic meters of gas, and put into operation 18 fields. Thanks to the implementation of the gas program, RN-Purneftegaz has increased the level of rational use of associated petroleum gas to 99%, which is one of the highest indicators in the industry. As part of the program, compressor stations of the Komsomolskoye, Ust-Kharampurskoye, Kharampurskoye fields, as well as a system for collecting associated petroleum gas of the Barsukovskaya group of fields, were commissioned. All facilities are equipped with modern equipment, production processes are controlled automatically.

New technological solutions are constantly being tested at the licensed areas of the enterprise, since all the fields being developed have a complex geological structure. RN-Purneftegaz develops oil deposits of the Achimov formations with depths of more than 4 thousand meters, which are classified as hard-to-recover. Production is complicated by high reservoir pressure, geological heterogeneity of the reservoirs, and low permeability of the oil-bearing rock. Oil workers of RN-Purneftegaz have introduced dozens of new technologies into production, developed and submitted more than 100 rationalization proposals. As part of the Rosneft-2022 strategy, the company has developed and implemented over 30 projects to improve production efficiency.

In 2021, RN-Purneftegaz began using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to control the level of greenhouse gases at facilities for the preparation, processing, and transportation of oil and gas. The monitoring is carried out using a remote laser scanner and a high-resolution video camera installed on unmanned aerial vehicles. In real time, office processing is also carried out, a photographic plan and a heat map are drawn up in case of deviations.

Monitoring is carried out at 40 facilities for the preparation, processing and transportation of oil and gas. It is planned to inspect over 700 km of pipelines during the year. UAVs are twice as effective in controlling greenhouse gases as those of manned aircraft. In addition, the use of UAVs allows monitoring at remote, inaccessible production sites.

The development of the production base has a positive effect on the socio-economic state of the city of Gubkinsky. With the support of RN-Purneftegaz, most of the socially significant objects have been built here: a city hospital, a children’s library, a music and art school, two swimming pools, an indoor ice court, and residential complexes. The city-forming enterprise provided financial assistance in the construction of the new Neftyanik Palace of Culture and Sports. Concerts and theater performances are held in the new building; more than 40 creative and 20 sports sections for children and adults work in the city.

RN-Purneftegaz has become a pilot site for the Company to implement the project of continuing education School-University-Enterprise. In 2006, the first in the country “Rosneft-class” was opened on the basis of the Gubkin secondary school. Over the years of the project, 14 issues of Rosneft-classes have taken place.

The enterprise is implementing a unique large-scale social project for preserving the ethnoculture and traditional way of life of the indigenous people – the forest Nenets. Rosneft has revived the national village of Kharampur, where comfortable brick houses styled as the national plague have been built for local residents. A boarding school, a club with a national library, a fish processing workshop and other important social facilities were also built. More than 800 residents currently live in Harampur. The club and the boarding school have sections in which national arts are developed – singing, dancing, traditional crafts. The younger generation is mastering the skills of traditional crafts.
