RN-Yuganskneftegaz: Drills Record Well
RN-Yuganskneftegaz (a production asset of Rosneft) drilled a well with a record horizontal section length of 1,482 meters in the Bazhenov formation of the Priobskoye field.
The company pays great attention to the development of hard-to-recover oil reserves (TRIZ). The growth of exploration drilling, as well as the fastest possible involvement of TRIZ in development, taking into account profitability, are one of the key goals of the Rosneft-2022 Strategy.
The drilling process was accompanied by engineers from RN-BashNIPIneft (Rosneft Research Institute), who updated the geological model of the well in real time to improve the accuracy of the horizontal wellbore. The results obtained during the implementation of the project are unique for the Company.
The Bazhenov Formation is the world’s largest geological reservoir with significant oil reserves. Within the reservoir, the Priobskoye field contains 399 million tons of proven geological reserves classified as hard-to-recover.
