RN-Yuganskneftegaz Increased the Initial Debit of a Multilateral Well by 60%
RN-Yuganskneftegaz, the largest producing asset of Rosneft Oil Company, has commissioned a horizontal well at the Vstrechnoye field, which was drilled using the Fishbone* technology. The initial flow rate of the well was 500 tons of oil per day. This is 60% more than standard horizontal wells in this field.
The use of modern drilling technologies is one of the priorities of the Company’s development strategy. Rosneft pays special attention to innovation, identifying technological leadership as a key competitive factor in the oil market.
The new well has 10 sidetracks with a total penetration of 6.8 thousand meters. During its construction, a modern rotary-controlled system and a logging complex were used, which made it possible to carry out drilling with high accuracy. The planning and design of the well profile was carried out by the Company’s corporate institutions — OOO RN-BashNIPIneft and JSC Institute of Geology and Exploration of Combustible Fossils. Calculations were made using corporate software systems – “RN-KIN”, “RN-Profile” and “RN-Horizon+”.
Wells built using the Fishbone technology can significantly increase the coverage of oil-saturated areas of the reservoir compared to a traditional horizontal well. This increases the initial production rate and at the same time requires less drilling.
