  • RN-Yuganskneftegaz: Sets a New Record for Daily Production Drilling

Rosneft’s largest oil and gas production company, RN-Yuganskneftegaz, has set a new industry record for daily meterage: 27,542 meters. This figure is 414 m / day higher than the previous record in July 2017. The new milestone was passed with fewer drilling rigs, while the efficiency of the work increased by more than 6%.

Striving for technological excellence is one of the key parameters of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. To increase production efficiency, RN-Yuganskneftegaz specialists are introducing innovative approaches to organizing the drilling process, modern technological solutions and the latest equipment.

The drilling capacity has been expanded and modernized. Currently, 98 drilling rigs are operating at the company’s fields. These are machines with a top power drive, equipped with high-torque rock cutting tools and modern complexes of pumping and storage equipment. Mobile dehydration units allow the use of oil-based drilling fluid in the construction of horizontal wells. Applying a “split service” approach ensures the selection of efficient service contractors, the ability to combine best practices and technologies. The company’s specialists were among the first in the Company to implement a large-scale double-casing production casing design, which made it possible to reduce the drilling cycle of horizontal wells by more than 2 times.

For 9 months of this year, 773 oil wells were built at the company’s fields, of which 397 are horizontal. 100 well pads were prepared and put into drilling, of which the largest number – 17 – was launched in August. RN-Yuganskneftegaz continues to increase the volume of production drilling, applying demanded engineering solutions and increasing the fleet of high-tech drilling rigs.

In August of this year, RN-Yuganskneftegaz achieved another record in the commercial speed of drilling horizontal wells of two-string design: 15,698 thousand meters per rig / month. Compared to 2015, the commercial drilling rate has increased by 47%.

The enterprise is systematically working to minimize the unproductive time of work of contractors. Round-the-clock monitoring and control of the construction process of each well excludes unplanned downtime and ensures a high level of work safety.
