ROGTEC Editors Note Issue 26
Dear Readers,
I hope you have all enjoyed the summer – it was good to catch up with everyone during the shows. From our point of view, we were very proud to showcase our 25th issue at the Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and MIOGE, which were both a great success for the ROGTEC team. We received great feedback at the shows, such as; “your magazine is everywhere!” which came in from past and current advertisers on multiple occasions – Alex Panteleev, our new Russian circulation & subscription manager is doing a great job already – well done Alex!
Back to the current issue and given that the summer is all but over, it seems fitting that we move on to all things Arctic. With the upcoming run of shows on this topic, including the RAO CIS Offshore and then SPE Arctic show, we follow this theme in issue 26 of ROGTEC. Our offshore editor, Mark Thomas assesses the challenges faced by operators in this harsh environment and we are very pleased to have Shtokman Development AG writing for us for the first time in what we hope will be a long working relationship. On the exploration side, Rosneft look the differing ideas of the total reserves in the Arctic, and how they are implementing new exploration technologies to get a firmer idea. Graham Blackbourn continues his series on the geology of Western Siberia, and we also welcome David Bamford back as a contributor with his slant on
what technologies he believes will work for these harsh Arctic conditions.
On the drilling side, we run an interview with Gokhan Aker, head of drilling at TNK-BP, plus another great article from TNK BP looking at drilling technologies in the Uvat field. Looking to production, we have LUKoil assessing the results of a new pump and production system, from a Russian manufacturer, that increases efficiency and reduces energy consumption.
Following the fantastic reception of PowerTec Russia Magazine, TMG Worldwide is continuing to expand its magazine title offering in Russia with the launch of the latest publication under our “PowerTec Russia” banner looking at transmission, distribution and utilities technology. More on this shortly.
In light of industry feedback and in order to ensure we remain as the most widely read upstream O&G publication in Russia, we are also refocusing our efforts in moving to a subscription based model rather than a free distribution system. We have priced ROGTEC Magazine at 100€ for a year’s subscription, which enables you to see all our content in all formats for a price significantly discounted from regional standards. BREAKING NEWS: Literally as I press the button to print this issue of ROGTEC, Rosneft and ExonnMobil have just announced a widening of their partnership agreement to include the acreage in the Kara Sea that BP had previously had, and lost an agreement for. The joint exploration and development company will see greater co-operation from both companies including the setting up of an Arctic Research Centre and most notably the exploration of Russia’s vast offshore reserves.
I hope you enjoy this issue and will continue to subscribe with us.
