  • Rosgeo is the Winner of the Minddigital Digital Transformation Case Competition

The Rosgeo project “Integrated platform for automation of geological exploration of solid minerals” became the winner of the V Competition of cases of digital transformation and breakthrough technologies of mining and metallurgical enterprises MINEXcellence in the MineDigital category, the results of which were summed up at the Mining and Geological Forum “Minex Russia 2023”.

“Rosgeo is consistently working on issues of import substitution of application software; we have developed an image of a promising landscape for automating the entire range of geological exploration processes for solid minerals. The task we are solving is not just to switch from foreign solutions to domestic analogues, but to build a comprehensive integrated platform that meets modern requirements to automate production processes.” – Sergey Gorkov – General Director – Chairman of the Board of the joint-stock company “Rosgeologia”.

Rosgeo specialists reengineered all business processes of solid mineral exploration “from field to report”, functional gaps were identified, and domestic products were selected that had the potential for improvement and scaling. As part of the initiative, two projects were created: “Platform for documenting geological information” and “Platform for field design”, implemented on the basis of solutions from domestic companies “AGR” and “Geomics”.

The projects were supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Digital Development, recognized as particularly significant by the Government of the Russian Federation and received grants from the Russian Foundation for Information Technology Development (RFIT) for implementation at Rosgeo enterprises and further replication throughout the industry.

“The projects are recognized by the Government as particularly significant and are being successfully implemented with the support of RFRIT at the enterprises of Rosgeologiya. The authoritative award speaks of the effectiveness and relevance of the solutions. Our next task will be to replicate developments in the industry and promote them to foreign markets.” – Alexander Pavlov – General Director of RFRIT.

First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation – Head of the Industry Committee “Ecology and Environmental Management” Konstantin Tsyganov noted:

“In modern realities, one of the most important goals of the state in the field of digital transformation is to ensure the technological sovereignty of the Russian Federation. One of the tasks of our committee in terms of subsoil use is to create a line of domestic solutions that maximally cover the IT landscape of the industry. Two critical ones were selected from many projects, the implementation of which also determines the country’s mineral and raw material security. The developed solution was highly appreciated by the President of the Russian Federation.” – Konstantin Tsyganov – First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation – Head of the Industry Committee “Ecology and Environmental Management”.

Finalization of projects started in 2022, work is carried out in synchronized quarterly sprints, which allows not only to receive feedback from operating departments, but to already use new application functionality “in the field.”

According to Rosgeo Information Technology Director Pavel Solovyov, the practice of using the platform in field conditions has shown that the product is extremely successful: “This year we are seeing a multiple increase in labor productivity and the quality of the geological information received. At the same time, the solutions we are developing have a high potential for export replication of solutions, which is confirmed by contracts already concluded both in neighboring countries, and in North Africa, and the Middle East.”
