Rosneft and Rosnedra are Testing a New Technology for Broadband Research on the Shelf of the Eastern Arctic
A joint research expedition of Rosneft Oil Company and the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra) started from Murmansk. The seismic survey vessel “Akademik Lazarev” is heading to the Arctic seas to carry out geological surveys and test a new domestic broadband seismic survey technology developed by Innopraktika.
For the tasks of the expedition, the ship is equipped with seismic equipment, as well as innovative domestic engineering and geophysical equipment, which allows you to see the seismic section in several frequency ranges at once. Thus, researchers receive the most complete geological information about the structure of the continental shelf in hard-to-reach and still little-studied regions of the Russian Arctic. The work is planned in the Barents and Laptev Seas and will be adjusted based on the actual ice conditions.
On the part of Rosneft, field work was organized by the corporate Arctic Research Center, on the part of Rosnedra – by the All-Russian Research Geological Oil Institute.
