  • Rosneft Becomes a Constituent of FTSE4Good Stock Index Leading on Core Sustainability Metrics

    FTSE Russell, the analytic branch of the London Stock Exchange, has included Rosneft Oil Company in the international FTSE4Good Emerging Index. Rosneft has been awarded the highest mark in the Governance category that comprises corporate governance, risk management, and corruption control. With its performance indicators, Rosneft is ahead of most (83%) participants of the international oil and gas industry rating ICB supersector.

    The FTSE4Good Index Series ranks the largest global companies based on environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and transparency in information disclosure. FTSE4Good Emerging Markets Index was established in 2016 and includes 536 companies (including 24 Russian participants) from over 20 developing countries with a total capitalization of about $3 trillion.

    Since 2007, Rosneft has been publishing Sustainability Reports in accordance with the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The Company is also a member of the UN Global Compact, thus confirming its commitment to the highest principles of sustainable development.

    In December 2018, the Board of Directors approved the Company’s strategy on compliance with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and the public statement – “Rosneft: Contributing to Implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goals”.

    Rosneft’s leading position in sustainable development was confirmed by the CHRB international human rights rating, which recognized the Company as the best among other Russian producers.

    In 2019, Rosneft’s efforts in sustainable development received recognition in a number of  acclaimed  global ratings. The Company was ranked among the top five industry leaders by Refinitiv with the “A” rating. Bloomberg’s sustainable development analysts assigned Rosneft the ranking of 65.15 (out of 100) which puts the Company in a leading position ahead of most international oil and gas companies.

    As a result of the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), performed by RobecoSAM, an international sustainable investing company, (RobecoSAM’s ESG Ratings business, including CSA, acquired by S&P Global in January, 2020) Rosneft Rosneft has improved its rankingby 12 notches to 57.
