Rosneft Completes Modernization of the Seismic Information Storage Center
Specialists of RN-KrasnoyarskNIPIneft (part of the Rosneft Corporate Scientific and Project Complex) have completed the modernization of the Seismic Information Storage Center of PJSC NK Rosneft (TSKSI). Modernization significantly increased the productivity of the Center, which will allow expanding the geography of the Company’s enterprises that store seismic data in the TSKSI.
The modernization was carried out within the framework of the “Rosneft-2022” Strategy, according to which the Company is rapidly replicating its own innovative technologies, reaching a qualitatively new level, taking into account the challenges of the digital era.
The work of the Center is based on the information system “CBD” Geobank-Seismic prospecting “, developed in” RN-KrasnoyarskNIPIneft “. This is a unique system, which has no analogues in Russia and in the world. Most of the information in it is available to users in online mode. Navigation on the information system is carried out both through an interactive subsoil use scheme, and by using queries to the database.
Thanks to the seismic information accumulated at the Center since 2009, the need for additional seismic surveys is minimized, as a result of which Rosneft, on average, reduces exploration costs by 2%.
The total amount of information stored in the TSKSI currently exceeds 2 petabytes, which is approximately equal to the amount of data contained in two billion 400-page paper books (for comparison, the entire fund of the Russian State Library contains about 50 million copies of books and covers an area of 8 , 5 hectares).
