Rosneft Conducted 10 Thousand Hydraulic Fractures with the Help of the Domestic Software RN-GRID
Specialists of the RN-hydraulic fracturing service company at the Prirazlomnoye field (part of RN-Yuganskneftegaz, a Rosneft subsidiary) conducted a 10,000-well hydraulic fracturing operation with a full design cycle in the first Russian hydraulic fracturing simulator RN-GRID.
The introduction of our own simulator for the design of hydraulic fracturing operations ensured Rosneft’s full technological independence from foreign software packages in the field of engineering calculations for hydraulic fracturing.
The RN-GRID software package was created in 2017 as part of the implementation of the Rosneft digital strategy by RN-BashNIPIneft specialists (part of the Corporate Research and Design Complex of the Company). The simulator allows you to accurately describe the complex geometry of the fracture that occurs in the rock during hydraulic fracturing.
The software package is significantly cheaper than foreign software. The appearance on the Russian market of domestic development led to increased competition and lower prices for foreign counterparts.
In 2018, Rosneft began commercialization of RN-GRID software. A number of leading oil and gas and oilfield services companies in Russia and foreign countries have already acquired and use RN-GRID in their work.
To date, more than 200 commercial licenses have been implemented, contracts for another 50 licenses are being concluded at the stage of conclusion, in addition, 140 academic licenses have been transferred to the partner universities of the Company. More than 40 test licenses were transferred to 16 oilfield services and oil and gas companies to study the capabilities of RN-GRID.
