  • Rosneft: Confirmed its Compliance with International Standards in the Field of Industrial Safety, Labor Protection and the Environment

    Rosneft’s Integrated Industrial Safety, Labor and Environment Management System (IMS HSE) was once again recognized as complying with the requirements of international standards ISO 45001: 2018 “Occupational Safety and Health Management System” and ISO 14001: 2015 “Environmental Management System”.

    Ensuring industrial safety, labor protection and environmental protection is a priority task for PJSC NK Rosneft in all areas of its activities. One of the key objectives of the Rosneft-2022 Strategy is to achieve by the end of 2022 a leading position in the world in terms of the main HSE indicators.

    The integrated HSE management system was introduced in Rosneft and its subsidiaries in 2006 and is designed to achieve the main goals of the Company and manage risks in the field of industrial safety, labor protection and the environment. Compliance with international standards is checked annually by an independent accredited auditor.

    In 2021, the audit of the integrated HSSE management system of Rosneft and its subsidiaries was carried out by DQS in all business areas: Exploration and Production, Refining and Sales, Service. Based on the results of the assessment, the auditors confirmed the high level of development of the HSE management system of Rosneft.

    The auditors noted positive changes in most environmental indicators in 2020, which indicates a high level of governance in this area. In addition, Rosneft became the first company in Russia to present a comprehensive Carbon Management Plan until 2035 with clear targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

    The plan includes:

    • Prevention of direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions in the amount of 20 million tons of CO2-equivalent;
    • Reducing the intensity of direct and indirect emissions in oil and gas production by 30%;
    • Achieving the intensity of methane emissions below 0.25%;
    • Zero routine flaring of associated gas.
