Rosneft: Creates Robot for the Automatic Execution of Routine Program Operations
Specialists of the Tyumen Oil Research Center (Rosneft Research and Design Institute) have developed a program that automates the routine operations of a personal computer user. The EVA software robot builds typical maps, tables and graphs, generates reports from various programs and systems, and also works with numerous files and folders.
The development of technological potential is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. The company prioritizes innovation, identifying technological leadership as a key factor in competitiveness in the oil market.
The principle of operation of EVA is based on repetition of the simplest actions of a PC user (clicking a mouse button, entering from the keyboard, transferring text, searching for data). These actions are recorded as commands and combined into scripts – a sequence of operations for the automatic execution of tasks. They can be played with EVA.
For example, when entering new data into existing tables or maps, the user performs the same set of actions several times. Updating information manually is time consuming and reduces the accuracy of work. EVA updates data automatically and without errors.
Geologists can use EVA to interpret studies, field engineers can use field models to automatically adapt field models, and system administrators can use software to install. A virtual assistant can be helpful in any activity.
A software robot performs work much faster than a human, does not make mistakes and frees employees from monotonous mechanical work. The specialist can focus on solving intellectual problems, searching for ideas and expert analytical activities.
EVA is being actively implemented at the Tyumen Petroleum Research Center, so far nine scripts have been put into operation, which in total have saved more than 150 working days a year. In the future, robotic automation systems will carry out all routine processes, and the Institute’s specialists will search for ideas and formulate tasks with control of implementation.
