Rosneft Develops a Software Package for Modeling Oil and Gas Mixture Flows
RN-BashNIPIneft specialists have developed and released the first industrial version of the RN-SIMTEP simulator designed to simulate the movement of oil and gas mixture flows at oil and gas facilities. Having your own simulator will allow you to apply artificial intelligence technologies when choosing the best design solutions.
The development of technological potential is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. The company prioritizes innovation, identifying technological leadership as a key factor in competitiveness in the oil market.
Unlike its western counterparts, the new Rosneft simulator is implemented using modern cloud technologies and is capable of performing calculations of all technological parameters (operating modes of equipment, material balance, physical and chemical characteristics of fluid flows, forecast of complications).
Optimization of flows of oil and gas mixture affects the capital intensity of construction of facilities and the cost of their operation. In addition, flow modeling is necessary to analyze the possibility of emergency or critical states of the pipeline network and areal facilities.
RN-SIMTEP has been tested in 11 research institutes of the Company. The developers monthly release new builds of the simulator, which take into account the comments and wishes of users to improve the interface. In addition to using the simulator at the Company’s enterprises, it is also planned to promote it in the external market.
The company has its own large-scale corporate line of specialized software packages in the Upstream part, which covers the entire range of business processes. At the moment, no other company has such a unified software package in Russia.
Rosneft specialists can model or create new software for almost any production process. This is an example of how the Company operates a full R&D cycle – from science to production.
