Rosneft Develops Software for Seismic Exploration
At the Rosneft Technology Day, specialists from Rosneft’s corporate scientific institutes presented a large-scale project to create the RN-SEism software package. It is designed for seismic geological study of the subsurface and allows you to perform tasks such as processing, interpretation and modeling of seismic data.
The release of the industrial version of the software package is planned for 2026. The economic effect from the introduction of import-substituting technology will amount to 700 million rubles by 2031.
“RN-SEism” combines geological, petrophysical and seismic information to build digital models of hydrocarbon fields. The introduction of new software will improve the quality and accuracy of the created digital models of deposits and ensure the Company’s technological leadership in the field of seismic geological study of subsoil.
Distinctive features of RN-SEism are a high degree of automation of routine procedures, the use of new high-tech algorithms and technologies, including those based on artificial intelligence. The software platform integrates tools for developing software modules that will allow users to create their own algorithms and technologies.
To implement the project, a multidisciplinary group of scientists and applied specialists from the Company, departments of the Russian Academy of Sciences and universities was created. In 2024, RN-BashNIPIneft developed a prototype of a software platform that provides storage and management of data and computational tasks, and also provides the ability to administer clusters (groups of computers, servers or processors connected by high-speed communication channels).
Today, Rosneft’s line of high-tech software includes 24 software products, 10 of which have been launched on the market. Participants of the Technology Day were presented with the latest versions of software, as well as practical experience in their use.
