  • Rosneft: FEFU to Conduct Survey for Rosneft to Determine Structural Behaviour of Deformed Ice

Rosneft Oil Company and Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) have signed a contract for research aimed to determine the structural behaviour of deformed ice for the design of marine hydraulic structures, during the 5th Eastern Economic Forum.

The scope of work under the contract provides for studies of deformed ice properties at a field test site, model tests, as well as the development of guidelines for taking into account the structural behaviour of deformed ice and ice loads.

The research programme includes constant monitoring and a comparative study of the ice behaviour on the field test sites located in the Arctic and in the waters of the Okhotsk Sea. The obtained data will help to clarify the ice loads on the structures located on the continental shelf of freezing seas for efficient and safe hydrocarbon production.

The Arctic Research and Design Centre, a subsidiary of Rosneft corporate Research and Development complex, will be engaged in the scientific and methodological support of the project.

The Company’s signing of the contract is another step to develop the scientific expeditionary programme for the study of the Arctic and Far Eastern shelves.
