  • Rosneft for 9 Months Increased Production of Liquid Hydrocarbons by 3.9%, to 4 Million bpd

Gas production increased by 33%, to 1.5 million boe/s

Production of liquid hydrocarbons by Rosneft over 9 months amounted to 4 million barrels. per day, which is 3.9% higher year-on-year and is mainly due to the resumption of production at the Sakhalin-1 project, the company reported.

Against the background of restrictions on oil production in the Russian Federation since March 2023, the volume of liquid hydrocarbons production in the third quarter amounted to 3.9 million barrels. per day, changing slightly quarter to quarter.

Since the beginning of the year, the company’s gas production has increased by 33% year-on-year, reaching 1.5 million boe/s. The growth in the indicator is associated with an increase in production volumes at existing projects, as well as the launch of new gas projects in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in 2022, NK explained. In the third quarter, gas production was at the same level – 1.5 million boe/s.

As a result, the company’s hydrocarbon production over 9 months reached 5.5 million boe/s, an increase of 10.7% year-on-year. At the same time, in the third quarter of this year, production was at the level of 5.4 million boe/s.

Production drilling progress since the beginning of the year amounted to 9.1 million m, which is 7% more than year-on-year. 2.4 thousand new wells were put into operation, 71% of them are horizontal. The share of new horizontal wells with multi-stage hydraulic fracturing was 48%. Specific production per horizontal well is more than 2 times higher than this figure for directional wells, the press release notes.

More than 2.2 thousand linear meters were completed under the Vostok Oil project. km of 2D seismic exploration and 1.6 thousand sq. km of 3D work, interpretation of the received data is being carried out, 5 wells are being drilled, 3 exploration wells have been drilled, 8 wells are at the testing stage.

During the pilot development of the Payakh cluster, 34 thousand meters of penetration were drilled over 9 months, and 11 production wells were completed. As part of the pilot development of the Ichemminskoye and Baikalovskoye fields, preparations for drilling continue – work is underway on the installation of drilling rigs. It is planned to begin drilling the first wells by the end of 2023.

The company’s oil refining volume in the Russian Federation in January-September amounted to 65.8 million tons, exceeding the same figure for 9 months of 2022 by 3.3%. The yield of light oil products increased to 58.2%, the depth of oil refining remained at 76.3%. In the third quarter, Russian refineries processed 21.7 million tons of oil, which is 0.9% higher quarter on quarter.

During the reporting period, Rosneft produced 900 tons of diesel fuel hydrotreating catalysts and protective layer catalysts. About 80% of this volume was supplied to the company’s refineries, the remaining volume was supplied to other Russian consumers. Also, NK enterprises produced more than 200 tons of reforming catalysts and about 130 tons of catalysts and adsorbents for hydrogen production plants, and reactivated (restored activity) 475 tons of regenerated diesel fuel hydrotreating catalysts.

In January-September, Rosneft sold 31.2 million tons of petroleum products on the domestic market, of which 11.4 million tons in the third quarter, which is 12.9% higher QoQ. In the reporting quarter, NK sold 2.25 million tons of motor fuel at the Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (SPbMTSE), which is more than 2 times higher than the standard. “The company’s share in the total volume of exchange sales of gasoline and diesel fuel was about 40%,” the report notes.
