  • Rosneft Has Implemented a New Technology for Pressure Control in Oil Wells

Specialists from RN-Purneftegaz, a subsidiary of the oil and gas production division of Public Joint Stock Company Rosneft, have successfully implemented an innovative domestically developed surface-mounted pressure regulation system for injection wells. The economic effect of this innovation amounts to 12 million Russian rubles per year per well.

The system enables operators to control the volume of water injected to maintain reservoir pressure and significantly simplifies well operation. The installation is based on standard oil production equipment, is mounted on the surfaceof a well cluster pad, and can be connected to multiple wells simultaneously. Previously used equipment was subsurface-mounted, and its installation and maintenance required costly and labor-intensive well workovers.

The application of this unique technology reduces electricity consumption by 1.2 million kilowatt-hours per year for a single well. In addition, the system now allows for hydrodynamic testing to be conducted without halting the injection process.

The new approach and accumulated operational experience are now being replicated at other Rosneft oil fields, which will contribute to improving the economic efficiency of oil field development.
