Rosneft Has Started Production of More Environmentally Friendly Drilling Fluids
Angarsk Petrochemical Company (part of the Rosneft oil refining and petrochemical complex) has started production of Rosneft Drilltec B2lh drilling fluids, which have improved environmental characteristics due to the use of a low-viscosity hydrocarbon base.
A new technology for the production of a more environmentally friendly hydrocarbon base has been developed by specialists from Rosneft, ANKHK, RN–Lubricants and the corporate Scientific Institute in Moscow.
Thanks to the new development, the content of aromatic hydrocarbons to 0.8% and sulfur to 2 ppm has been reduced in Rosneft Drilltec B2lh drilling fluid. Another advantage of the innovative solution is the possibility of its application in cold climatic conditions – the solidification temperature of the product is below -40 ° C.
ANKHK has already shipped the first batches of the new product to Rosneft‘s drilling units. Hydrocarbon–based solutions with low plastic viscosity are used for drilling extended horizontal wells. The technological development of the oil and gas industry increases the demand for innovative materials.
The production capacity of the new drilling mud at ANKHK exceeds 2 thousand tons per month.
