Rosneft Improves Accuracy of Oil-Bearing Reservoir Forecasts
Specialists of the Tyumen Research Institute of Rosneft have created a unique seismic facies model of the Russkoye field, which will enable more accurate identification of oil-bearing zones during drilling.
The large-scale work on building the model included studies of sedimentation conditions, analysis of wave field characteristics based on seismic data, and interpretation of well data. The model was tested in 90 wells and confirmed its high efficiency.
The innovation provides a more detailed understanding of the geological structure of the subsurface. The model has doubled the accuracy of identifying the top of the reservoir and increased the accuracy of oil-saturated intervals by one-third. The implementation of the model in drilling support strategy will allow the Company to increase well potential and improve the economic performance of the development of the largest heavy oil field in Russia.
The development of technological potential is one of the key elements of the Rosneft 2030 strategy. The Company places priority on innovation, considering technological leadership as a key factor of competitiveness in the oil market.
